Insects & other invertebrates of
"The Creek"
(Property of Bill Watson, Butler County, Kansas)
Last Updated: 20 June 2001
Compiled on the basis of survey work by Roy J. Beckemeyer - this list is a
work in progress.
Photo above right shows a Malaise Trap installed along the
bank of Rock Creek near a small riffle (22 August, 2000). Photo by Roy J.
Beckemeyer. As of 12/00 4 visits had been made, 1 in July, the others in
August 2000. Aerial and sweep net and Malaise traps were used. Kick
net was used in the creek. No work was done with a Berlese funnel so
beetles and ants and other ground-dwelling fauna are under-represented.
Also, only late-summer fauna would be represented as well.
