Paul Tasch of Wichita State University began working on the paleolimnology of the Permian of Kansas and Oklahoma in the 1950's.  He concentrated on clam shrimps (Conchostraca).  He discovered insect fossils in a number of localities in Kansas and Oklahoma and was able to correlate the strata and insect beds over a wide area.

He and James Zimmerman described a number of new insects and other invertebrates from the Permian deposits.
