Reconstruction of Probnis speciosa

Right: A drawing of what Probnis speciosa might have looked like.  The view with the wings outspread is based on the reconstruction by Frank M. Carpenter.  The drawing was done using a vector-graphics software package (XARAX1) and has the body, legs and head, and wings on separate layers.  This allows the artist to then move the wings to approximate the closed-wing appearance as shown to the right.  Of course, the colors are purely speculative.  Drawing by Roy Beckemeyer.
