"Monkey" Grasshopper, Amazon Forest of Peru.Peru Insects

One of the colorful Orthoptera of the lowland forests around Amazonia Lodge (500m).  Family Eumastacidae, called airplane or monkey grasshoppers.  This looks like Eumastax vittata per J.L. Castner's "Amazon Insects" (Feline Press, 2000, Gainesville, FL).  Photo by Roy Beckemeyer.
