Recounting a trip made by Pat and Roy Beckemeyer to Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Cloud Forest and Amazonian Lowland Forest of southeastern Peru in November, 2000.

(Trip made with Jan and Roger Boyd of Baldwin City, Kansas, and David Pantle of Canon City, Colorado, all of us members of the Kansas Ornithological Society.)

Photo at right:  Buying rubber boots at village of Pillcopata.  We paid S./25.00 (25 soles, at 3.45 soles per dollar - about $7 and change) per pair.  We didn't need anything but regular hiking boots while in the cloud forest, but the rubber boots came in handy in the Amazonian lowland forests around Amazonia Lodge (500 m elevation).
