Right: On Feb. 19th, shortly after two weeks of below
freezing weather with snow and ice covering the ground, two days of 50 to
60 degree F and warm south winds
revealed our first crocuses, these on the southeast corner of the yard.
Left - Snowdrops below the crabapple tree (and near where the hostas will pop up
later) in the shade garden. First noticed on the 19th,
photographed on the 20th of Feb.
Right:
The first bulb of the spring every year is Eranthus hyemalis (Winter
Aconite). Here is one of a big batch that bloom in the
"woodland" garden on the north side of the garage - 20 Feb. 2004.
