Right: On Feb. 19th, shortly after two weeks of below freezing weather with snow and ice covering the ground, two days of 50 to 60 degree F and warm south winds revealed our first crocuses, these on the southeast corner of the yard.

Left - Snowdrops below the crabapple tree (and near where the hostas will pop up later) in the shade   garden.  First noticed on the 19th, photographed on the 20th of Feb.

 

arianthusfeb20z.jpg (55664 bytes)Right: The first bulb of the spring every year is Eranthus hyemalis (Winter Aconite).  Here is one of a big batch that bloom in the "woodland" garden on the north side of the garage - 20 Feb. 2004.
