Sketch by Roy Beckemeyer From my log:
"After an afternoon with nesting Gentoo Penguins and Blue-eyed Shags, we went ashore at Port Lockroy, a British Station. Back on the ship, I went up on deck to take a GPS reading to find the sun shining through a slightly hazy atmosphere, filling the landscape with a wonderful light, and nearly blinding me with its glare on the water. A roadway of brilliant light marked the path between the ship and the sun's azimuth, a glowing path strewn with chunks of ice and swimming penguins. A magical scene!"
