Left:
John Vollet, our maternal Great Great Grandfather, with nine of his
grandaughters, circa 1919. Standing 2nd from left is our grandmother's
sister, Clare Vollet. Another of grandma's sisters, Hilda Vollet, has her
arm around John. John was born 22 August, 1836 in Bavaria. He died
27 February, 1921. He was married to Caroline H. Karl (Oct. 10, 1838 -
Sept. 23, 1918) Mar. 2, 1862 in Belleville, Illinois. He was a barrel
maker with Trenton Flour Mills. From the 1920 Clinton County Illinois
Census, Trenton, Sugar Creek Township, John Vollet, 82 year old father-in-law,
lived with William Sieber, who was married to one of our grandmother's aunts,
Amelia.
John's son, Henry Otto Vollet (born Feb. 13, 1866 in
Belleville, Illinois) married Sophie Josephine Mueller (Right
above). Mother of
Catherine Vollet
Anderhalter, Grandmother of Loretta Marie Anderhalter Beckemeyer, Great
Grandmother of Roy, Elaine, Richard and Jane Beckemeyer. She was born 28
Feb. 1874 in Madison County, Illinois, near Trenton (which is in Clinton
County), and died 16 July, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri. They were married
Nov. 7, 1892. Henry died from injuries sustained in a coal mining accident in
Trenton, Illinois. Death was in St. Louis on 30 October, 1910.
In 1910, Henry and Sophie were living in Trenton with their 8
daughters. Sophie was pregnant with twins (Delores and Doris) when Henry
died.

The 1920 U.S. Census shows Sophie Vollet living in Trenton as
head of household, 45 years old, with Mildred S., 21, a dry goods clerk, Hilda
M., 19, a stenographer, Leona B., 17, a hardware clerk, Clara M., 15,
stenographer, and Olivia O., 13, Louise C., 11, Doris E., 8, and Delores [sic],
8.

Left:
Ollie Anderhalter, our maternal grandfather, as a young boy. Born 9 July
1890 in Trenton, Illinois. Died 6 January 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Right:
Kate Vollet, our maternal grandmother, at age 18. Born 2 February, 1894 in
Trenton, Illinois, died 8 September, 1974 in Miami, Florida.

And then she met him - Ollie Anderhalter, our maternal grandfather.

The 1910 census lists Frank Anderhalter, 49 year old head of
household and coal miner, born in Missouri to German parents, married to
Elizabeth, 47, born in Illinois to German parents, who had borne 4 children, 2
of whom were living with them: Frank, 23, and Oliver, 19. Also, Lena,
Elizabeth's 69 year old German-born mother, lived with them.

From the 1920 U.S. Census for Trenton, Sugar Creek Township,
CLinton County, Illinois: Oliver Anderhalter, 29 year old cigar maker, and
wife Kathryne [sic], 25, with children, Elizabeth, 3, Margaret, 2, and Loretta
(7 months?).
Also in that census were listed Ollie's parents and brother:
Frank Anderhalter, 59, wife Elizabeth, 57, and son Frank, 32, all living in
Trenton.
