Left: A baboon with her baby. A troop of baboons were mingling with a
small herd of Impala in Hluhluwe Game Preserve.
Right: A small herd of Blesbok seen in the high altitude grasslands near
Waakerstroom in Mpumalanga.

Left:
A Buffalo after his mud bath. Hasn't done much for his looks. Photo
taken at Hluhluwe Game Preserve.
Right: A group of Blue Wildebeast. Photo taken at Bonamanzi Game
Preserve.

Left: A giraffe at Hluhluwe Game Preserve.
Right: Close up view of Red-billed Oxpeckers on a giraffe's back.
Nearly all the animals we ssaw were heavily infested with ticks, and the birds
specialize in feeding on ticks.

Right: A pair of Spotted Hyaena were encountered early in the morning as we
entered Hluhluwe Game Preserve. Even with a flash, there was just barely
enough light for pictures.
Right below: An Impala buck.

Left: A Kudu buck with his impressive spiral antlers. Photo taken at a
water hole hide in Mkhuse Game Preserve.

Right: A Nyala buck at the same location. This was a great spot that
allowed close photos of many species.

Left:
A male White Rhino with Oxpeckers.
Right: Two female White Rhinos. Both photos taken at Mkhuse water
hole.
Right:
Zebras at the water hole. Note the Oxpeckers on the back of the zebra in
the foreground.

Left: Two Yellow Mongoose in the grass near Waakerstroom (above 1700 m
elevation).
Our only look at Elephants in the wild was near the end of the day at
Hluhluwe, where we saw a large breeding herd passing through a distant
valley. Left below is a view as seen through a 200 mm telephoto lens, and
at right is a detail from this picture that shows four elephants in view.
