Left: A leaf-cutting bee (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae: probably Megachile sp.) on a "Lemon Queen" flower.  Below right: a close up of the bee.

Left and below: A "Dog Day" Cicada (Homoptera: Cicadidae: Tibicens pruinosa)  perched quietly on a potted plant while I took its portrait.
